Image Compressor / Compress to 50KB

Precision compression · not a resize

50KB

The exact file size your form is asking for

Application forms, ID verification, document portals, e-KYC — most of them cap your photo at 50KB. Drop your image in, and we re-encode it step by step until it lands right at that limit. No cropping, no resizing.

Why 50KB?

Why 50KB, specifically

A handful of extra kilobytes is the difference between "uploaded" and "file exceeds limit"

50KB isn't an arbitrary number — it's the ceiling built into dozens of online application portals, ID verification systems and document upload forms. A phone photo usually lands between 2MB and 8MB, so getting under 50KB means cutting well over 98% of the file. A plain "reduce quality" slider almost always overshoots or undershoots that target; this tool searches for it instead.

How it lands on 50KB

Three steps. No slider to guess with.

1

Upload

Drag in a JPG, PNG or WebP — any resolution, any starting size.

2

Calibrate

We re-encode the image at shrinking quality steps and check the output size each time, stopping right at ~50KB.

3

Download

Same width and height as your original — only the file size changes.

What a 50KB-limit portal actually checks

aspect_ratio

Pixel dimensions stay fixed

Only quality and encoding change. A photo uploaded at 200×230 for a passport form stays exactly 200×230 — portals that validate dimensions won't reject it.

security

Nothing is kept

Your photo is processed for this one compression and discarded. It's never attached to a name or stored for later.

Scanned signatures work too

PNG scans of signatures compress on the server with palette reduction, which keeps ink strokes sharper than a plain quality drop.

bolt

Runs in your browser

The size search for JPG and WebP happens on your device — no queue, no waiting on a slow upload before you even see a result.

Questions

Frequently asked

Why does my form insist on exactly 50KB?

Most Indian government and exam portals set a hard upload ceiling — usually 20KB–50KB for photos — to keep their servers light. A typical phone photo is 2–8MB, so it has to be cut down by well over 98% to clear the check.

Will the photo look blurry at 50KB?

There's some visible softening at that size — that's unavoidable physics, not a bug. We search for the highest quality setting that still lands under 50KB, so you get the best version possible within the limit.

Do the width and height change?

No. Only the encoding quality changes. If a portal checks pixel dimensions, like 200×230 for a passport photo, those stay exactly as uploaded.

Does this work for scanned signatures and PNG screenshots?

Yes — PNGs are compressed on the server using palette reduction, which handles flat-color images like scanned signatures better than a plain quality slider.

Is my photo saved anywhere after compression?

No. The image is processed for this one compression and then discarded — nothing is stored on the server.
